Thank you to all who have been following my blog and reading daily. I truly appreciate the support! I’ve decided to make a small leap to typepad. I wanted to get my feet wet in blogging with wordpress, and feel typepad better supports where I want to go with my blog eventually! SO, please continue to follow me and check out my new page on typepad. (click to follow link). Best to all! xoxox, Anna
I’m trying to finish a song for my husband. Hopefully, it will be done by father’s day. I’m not having much luck these days with completing things – I have a hundred projects ‘on hold’ while Monkeyboy takes front seat for the next year or so. We’ve embarked on growing…and those pains are always hardest. Hopefully, the result will, in fact, feel much like a new child – exciting, fresh….worth it! Until then, I’ve got a few new polaroid prints coming…and some notecards. Those should arrive in a few weeks and I’ll put them into the shop.
Best to all!
Well, the OCM show went off without a hitch. We had a great time – thanks to all of you who stopped by! We love meeting you! I was elated to have sold a few prints, a lot of shirts and taking a break from being a mom for a weekend is always refreshing! (ha ha). Here is a photo from my scramble prep to get prints ready – notice the pile of old cameras at my feet…..box of magazines with markers for color options on shirts, new Sari curtains un-hung on the top of the cd cabinet…basket of blankets waiting to be folded – oh yes, day in the life of a busy mom trying to start a business and keep a few hobbies running. (ECK – would you even know I’m a perfectionist!) ha ha ha. Anyway – it was a great show! If you didn’t get a chance to check us out, you might look for us at Renegade Chicago this year!
If you are in the mood for browsing art, photography….jewelry….a myriad of other types of creative studios – come to Hot Shops tomorrow and Sunday downtown! I’ll be in room 222 – stop in and say ‘Hello!’ Of course, Monkeyboy shirts available – and also, I will have some new prints available for purchase! (Of course, Amy’s creations are a draw in and of themselves, so you have nothing to lose!) As well, we have a few new rockin’ ladies in the Mafia, and their stuff is the bomb! Come see us!!! (Do or die).

I finally have a select few prints up in Etsy! No bottles, oils or other yet to come items, but it’s a start! Check it out!

My bones have been chilled lately! I feel like I’m thawing out when I take a shower! I’ve come to grips with the fact that Bello goods will remain on hold until the new year. Too much preparation for family coming, candy making….and of course, all this takes extra time with little helping hands! However, the cold in my bones is a reminder of the season and for me, it’s a warm one. It’s traditions revisited year after year, stockings coming out of their hibernation and hung on the mantle, small fingers placing shiny ornaments on the tree – and a quiet circle of family….each holding a lit candle, speaking out the many thanks of the year. It’s my grandmother’s old recipe living on for the “Jesus Cake”, my sister’s hearty soups at the stove and even the new addition of my husband’s smoked turkey wonder that brings a spark to Christmas Eve. A few years ago, I picked up the tradition of making all the candy for neighbors, loved ones far away and our own little brood. After rifling through the recipes (and adding a few extras like white chocolate pistachio toffee and egg nog fudge….YUM), I stop to think about the reality that it’s not about the season, the presents…or even the giving…but the act of coming together, awakening those that were past, being thankful for the good stuff, and welcoming in a new year.
A great horrah! to my fellow ladies of the Craft Mafia! The Hot shops art show was a huge success. Full of bonding, selling, laughing and, of course, a bit of mimosas! Thanks to all who came out and joined us for a good time. I was only able to display Monkeyboy goods as my Bello projects are being put to the back burner. I know a few of you came out to purchase some matted photos and ‘bottles’ but I might have some of those at the February show. We’ve had some great business pre-holidays with Monkeyboy, so I can’t complain on the busy factor! Keeps me hopping! Until next time…..ciao bella!
